G CAT MASTER - (Graphiti - Course in Animation Technology)
Master Level Certificate

Course is designed specifically for Art Graduates who have completed their education in Fine Arts, Commercial or Applied Art or any equivalent course of study.

The course is a full time course spread across 12 months with various semesters focusing on the Pre production processes of Animation film making. Course includes power packed series of workshops like puppetry, drawing, acting, film making, film review session etc.

The course focuses on concepts and art of animation film making. Emphasis is on the pre production process. It uses the strengths of an artist to bring out unique creative approaches to animation film making. Allows the student to research animation and develop their own style.

The Key learning points in this course would be the pre-production skills needed for animation film making. The emphasis would be on Animation styling, character design, layouts, storyboards and technical processes involved in creating visual assets for animation.

Semesters
Foundation : 3 months
Animation Film Making : 1 month
Animation Film Design : 6 months
Animation Film Pre Production : 2 months

Eligibility
The G-CAT Master course is open to those who have learnt Art through courses like Degree or Diploma of Art colleges in Applied/Fine Art or Equivalent.



Entry Criteria:
1) Art Portfolio consisting of sketches and drawings preferably life study (Could be college exercises)
2) Statement of Purpose (Essaying why the student wants to do animation)
3) Short Film (Animation or Live – optional)
4) Graphiti Entry Test (GET)

a premium training school, is an initiative taken by Mr. Ram Mohan (known as the "Father of Indian Animation") & Graphiti Multimedia Pvt. Ltd, to train talented people to become Animation Professionals. Successful in setting benchmarks on the quality of training imparted and our courses have set standards in the industry.

Students will learn concepts of animation film making, acquire skills in a specific animation production area and gaining some practical experience.

Graphiti - Courses in Animation Technology (G-CAT).
G-CAT is certification of Graphiti School for students who completes the course offered by Graphiti. These course hare designed by Studio professionals in industry and academicians. The training methodologies are been tried and tested in animation studios. The courses focus on developing specialized skills that can be used in the animation industry. The courses are designed not only to teach tools of animation but also the related fundamental concepts and skills like film making, acting, puppetry, clay modeling, sculpting etc.

G-CAT Pro (10 months) (Full time)
Full time intense professional course for making a career in Animation, a intensive course to acquire skills and become an expert animation professional.

It consists of three phases:

Foundation - emphasizes on knowledge enhancement.
To train the students gain knowledge on fundamentals of design and visualization and take them through a life cycle of animation production.

Specialization – emphasizes on skill development in one selected core area.
To train the students gain core skills in their respective specializations like Modeling, Texturing, Rigging, Animation, Lighting & compositing in 3D animation production.

Production - simulates a live studio environment with hands on project.
The students are exposed to the working methodology and culture of an Animation Studio. The expertise level of the students increases, thus making them industry ready professionals.

Workshops
The students are exposed to areas like acting, drawing, editing, production pipeline etc. to enable them relate these areas to animation production.

Industry Experts Interaction
Visiting industry expert interact with students and share their perspective, identify processes and help the students understand what they can look ahead to.

Duration: 10 Months (4m Foundation + 4m specialization + 2m production) (6 days a week, 4 hrs class – 2 hr lab).

Loan: The students should approach banks for a loan facility, if required. We will advise you any details on this at the time of Aptitude counseling.

Eligibility:
· The students should have completed HSC, should be 18 years + as on 1st April 2008.
· The students would need to go through an Aptitude counseling, a pre-requisite for admission as it helps us to understand and advice the applicant of their aptitude for animation content creation.

Procedure of Admissions:
The Students should register for the Aptitude counseling via telephone, online or in person at the school. Students have to pay an amount of Rs. 100/- as fees before the counseling session. This counseling is a pre-requisite for admission as it helps us to understand and advice the applicant of the aptitude for animation content creation.

Ram Mohan, the legend and doyen of Indian Animation recently completed fifty years of involvement with the animation industry. He has played a significant role in the evolution of animation in India - with over a hundred films to his credit, his contributions range a wide spectrum of work in the areas of 2D Classical Animation, 3D and CGI, Cinema and Live Action. His sharp wit and sharper pencil have earned him international accolades over his career. His favorite characters among the thousands he has brought to life are Meena, the UNICEF mascot for programmes for the girl child.

He Co-directed India's first animation feature, 'Ramayana - the Legend of a Rama'…, the highly acclaimed Indo-Japanese animation feature on Rama. Apart from innumerable awards he has received, he has the distinction of having trained many animation professionals who are now senior directors and producers in animation industry.

Due to huge response in the previous three series of workshops, Graphiti School of Animation is offering its fourth set of free workshops for all students and parents and all those interested to know more about jobs, scope and careers in the field of animation. Here is a school that was started by the Father of Indian Animation, Mr. Ram Mohan, with a vision to create Animation Professionals in the Art of Animation, through an interesting curriculum, in an inspiring environment, under the guidance of committed trainers and industry experts

Here is a school that is full of energy that will open you up to your own unexplored self!!!

We started out saying we will not just teach software commands but will teach the students to think as animation professionals and become creators of animation. We designed a complete courseware with the guidance of practicing animation professionals with many years of studio experience, to share their thoughts and ideas. The team that put the courseware together worked closely with Ram Mohan and absorbed the context and the content first. Relevant assignments and class work were also identified and linked to specific stages of the course. Some thought went into what the students should learn in the class room and what they should acquire through practice, which correlated with the lab work. The entire material was then compiled into a special courseware which for two years has been creating wonders.

The most important part of the school is the faculties who implement this courseware. They are constantly innovating in their approach to impart their knowledge to their students, within the framework of the courseware.

They may not come across to you as the standard conventional teacher. Lets say that they eat, drink, laugh, cry, sleep Animation and that’s what they get their students to do as well!!!

They provide the space, the freedom, the directed approach, the road that leads you to what you want!

The counselors, they don’t create animation yet they will take you through a counseling process that will explain you all about animation education & careers.
